How do I become a member?

If you live or work in our common bond area, then you can become a member here.

 

Does it cost anything to become a member?

All members must pay a £1 affiliation fee annually and hold £5 savings in their account at all times. If you are applying for a membership online, a deposit of at least £6 must be made within 2 days, this can be done over the phone (028) 38335104 or in person. All memberships made in the office, must be paid directly.

 

What documents do I need to become a member?

You will need one form of photographic Identification such as:

  1. Current EU or UK Photo Card Driving License (full or provisional)
  2. EU Member State Identity Card
  3. Current valid signed Passport
  4. Provisional valid UK Driving License (photograph version only)
  5. Northern Ireland Electoral Identity Card
  6. DRD Senior Citizen Smart Pass
  7. 60+ Smart Pass

and one form of address verification (no more than 3 months old) such as:

  1. Utility Bill less than 3 months old including Gas / Electricity / Telephone (not mobile) / Water
  2. Rates Bill / Payment
  3. Bank or Building Society statement
  4. Mortgage statement
  5. Local Council / Housing Association rent card or tenancy agreement
  6. State Benefit Book (pension / disability / child benefit)
  7. Letter confirming eligibility to State benefit which is paid into a bank
  8. Valid UK firearms Certificate including photograph

* Please note that the same form of identification cannot be used to confirm both your identity and your address.

 

How do I open an account for my child?

If you are the parent or guardian of a child, you can open a minor account for them by calling into our office (26 Market Street, Portadown) and bring the following documentation:

  • Childs birth certificate
  • Photographic ID for yourself (acceptable forms of ID listed above)
  • Proof of address (acceptable forms of proof listed above)

 

What are your opening hours?

We open:

  • Tuesday- 9.30am- 5pm
  • Wednesday- 10am-5pm
  • Thursday- 9.30am- 5pm
  • Friday- 9.30am- 5pm
  • Saturday- 9.30am- 1pm

Do you have an app?

Yes. You can now access your online account from your iPhone or Android smartphone using our CuMobile app. The mobile app gives you the ability to:

  • Access your accounts from anywhere 24/7
  • Fast and secure access to your account
  • View all your account balances
  • Transfer money from your easy share account to other accounts

*Please note: logon details for the app (username, PIN and password) are the same as your current login details for access to your CU Online accounts. To use the app, you must register to use CU Online. Once you are registered and have your username, PIN and password you are ready to use the CuMobile app.

 

Is there a limit to how much I can save?

Yes, as of 1st May 2021, we have a saving cap in place. These limits are: adult accounts £500 per calendar month and minor accounts £250 per calendar month. To read more about this, click here. 

 

What age does a minor account become an adult account?

A minor account will mature into an adult account when the member reaches 16 years old. They will then become primary owner of the account and the money within it.
